Rock and Ice Climbing

  • Upper Peninsula Climbers Coalition

The Upper Peninsula Climbers Coalition are the driving force behind rock and ice climbing in Michigan. They are the publishers of these guidebooks, advocate for climbing access, and are one of the hosts of Michigan Ice Festival.

  • Ontario Climbing

Rock Climbing in Ontario can be found in the Niagara Glen, Beaver Valley (outside of Collingwood), Lion’s Head, Tobermory, and in Thunder Bay area. Thunder Bay hosts it’s own Ice Climbing festival.

  • Grand Ledge Rock Climbing

Grand Ledge outside of Lansing is one of the only places to outdoor rock climb in the Lower Peninsula. It is in a public park and will restrict climbing if policies that protect the land are not followed. Goulash Festival by Adventurtle takes place here.

  • Michigan Ice Fest

Michigan Ice Fest is the Midwest’s largest ice climbing festival. Taking place every February, you can attend classes, clinics, demos, lectures, and parties. I don’t ice climb but I go because there are so many cool things to do and people to meet.
