  • Michigan Trail Maps

    Michigan Trail Maps is probably my absolute favorite resource for finding maps and guidebooks specific to the state of Michigan. My go to maps from here are the Manistee River/North Country Trail Loop and the Porcupine Mountains map. My favorite book is Backpacking in Michigan by Jim DuFresne.

  • Northern/Southern Michigan Atlas Field Guide

    The Northern and Southern Michigan Atlas Field Guide is a set of atlases of Michigan that are more than road atlases. They have boat launches, trail heads, ATV/ORV, hiking, and paddle trails. Available as an ebook.

  • A Rock Climber's Guide to the Upper Peninsula

    This Rock Climbing Guidebook contains over 300 routes in the Upper Peninsula and was curated by local climbers. Published in 2021 by Matt Abbotts, and Bill Thompson with it’s forward by Phil Watts.

  • An Ice Climber's Guide to the Upper Peninsula

    The Ice Climbing Guidebook contains information for over 200 routes in the Upper Peninsula and was written by local climbers. Published in 2019 by Matt Abbotts, Jon Jugenheimer, and Bill Thompson with it’s forward by Conrad Anker.

  • Ontario Climbing

    The Ontario Climbing guidebooks are broken down into several different books. There are the Northern and Southern Escarpment, Thunder Bay area, Rattle Snake Point, and Halfway Log Dump boulder area.

  • Chain of Lakes Guidebook

    The Chain of Lakes Guidebooks is a 30 page waterproof book for the Chain of Lakes that contains paddle routes, take in and out points, restaurants, liveries, and more. Published by Paddle Antrim.

  • Rail Trails: Michigan & Wisconsin

    This Michigan and Wisconsin Rail Trails Guidebook has 63 of the most popular rail trails in these two states. However, it was published in 2017 and Michigan has put A LOT of resources into increasing the number of greenways and rail trails. Published by the Rails to Trails Conservancy.

  • Ontario Bike Trails

    Ontario Bike Trails has a collection of books written by the creator of the website, Dan Roitner, plus many more. For the books he as authored, he rode all the trails in order to be able to better write about them. Includes rail trails, mountain biking, and gravel grinding.

  • Best Tent Camping: Michigan

    Don’t let this title fool you, but Best Tent Campsites: Michigan is actually a car camping guide book. Written by Matt Foster.

  • Michigan Day Trips by Theme

    Michigan Day Trips by Theme contains over 300 options to be a tourist close to home. By Kathryn Houghton, Kate Crowley, and Mike Link.
